Coalition for Overcoming Problem Eating/Exercise (C.O.P.E.)

 

What is C.O.P.E.?


The Coalition for Overcoming Problem Eating/Exercise (C.O.P.E.) is a group committed to maintaining a supportive campus environment that:


  1. 1. Encourages the development of healthy eating and exercise patterns.

  2. 2. Offers varied treatment resources for students to use when        unhealthy patterns develop.



  1. C.O.P.E. members include:


  2.     IU Health Center-

  3.         Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) counselors

  4.         Health and Wellness dietitians

  5.         Physicians and nurse practitioners


  6.     Campus Recreational Sports- staff specialists in healthy exercise


  7.     Residential Programs and Services- staff who work to make living environments as healthy as possible


  8.     Athletic Department -staff who understand unique pressures on athletes


  9.     Bloomington community - specialists in eating disorders


  10. To create a supportive campus environment, C.O.P.E. focuses on:

  11.     Prevention and education – sharing resources, the Coalition can increase the numbers of students reached

  12.     by flyers, workshops, screening days, and online information


  13.     Treatment – working together, the Coalition can refine such things as effective referral procedures and

  14.     share aggregate student responses to treatment


  15.     Policies and resources – as a team effort, C.O.P.E. can assist the campus in reducing the chances that

  16.     serious, complex disorders will harm students
